A Canadian man was caught in the act of trying to steal a truck when a group of strangers came to the owner’s rescue, surrounding the truck and trapping the would-be thief inside.
The potential truck pilferer was in the midst of trying to hotwire the truck when the vigilantes surrounded him.
Greg Johnson was grabbing lunch inside a nearby Subway shop when he said the truck’s owner approached him about the attempted theft.
‘When I looked out the window, I thought, ‘This doesn’t happen every day. This is an interesting situation. There is a guy actually trying to hotwire a vehicle and they’re guarding the door and he (the owner) didn’t seem to care,’ so I figured it was worthy of taking a shot.’
The video shot on the scene shows a crowd of people surrounding the truck, trapping the man inside while the police are called.

‘The guy who wanted to steal the vehicle is in the process of trying to hotwire it. He had a fantastic work ethic and really should be doing something else — because he never quit the entire time — until the police arrived,’ Johnson told Global News Canada.
When police arrived on the scene, they broke the glass of the truck’s window and extracted the man, with a few yelling about him being in possession of a knife. They then tackled him to the ground and deployed a taser.
