An American entrepreneur is opening a holiday retreat on an island in Finland where no men are allowed.
SuperShe Island is under construction in the Helsinki archipelago, and is set to open to female only guests later this year.
Males will be banned from the ten-cabin retreat, which is created as an ‘ultra-luxe and health-focused’ oasis.

Girls allowed: The island retreat in the Baltic Sea is for women only – at least for the time being
Sanctuary: The 8.4-acre island is going to be a retreat for women to focus on health and fitness
It will be available to members of the SuperShe community, a networking group founded by American Kristina Roth.
Ms Roth, a former CEO of a consultancy business, came up with the idea of a ‘women-only island after going on holistic retreats in the U.S. where she found that men were a distraction to the female visitors.
‘When there was a cute guy, women would put on lipstick,’ she told the New York Post.
She had already bought land on Turks and Caicos with the intention of building the SuperShe retreat there when she fell in love with a Finn – and then Finland.

Change of plans: Ms Roth had originally planned her SuperShe Island retreat in Turks and Caicos, but when she fell in love with a Finnish man, she also fell in love with Finland
Nearly there: The island is due to open in June this year, after all ten cabins have been built
Holistic: The SuperShe Island stays will feature yoga and fitness sessions as well as cooking classes
Her partner’s parents owns the island next-door, and when the future SuperShe Island went up for sale, he convinced her to go for it.
The 8.4-acre island will feature ten cabins with ‘spa-esque amenities’, and Ms Roth is promising yoga and fitness sessions as well as cooking classes.
Ms Roth insists that there is no ‘man-hating’ behind the women-only policy, and that in future, she has no problem with male guests, but the island will first and foremost be for SuperShe community members and women of a similar ilk.
