A young man feared to have been murdered and dumped in woodland was pictured smiling as he entered a supermarket with a friend just hours earlier.
Detectives investigating the killing of Sam Mechelewski have released images of the 20-year-old entering a Sainsbury’s in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire at 8pm on Wednesday, January 31.
He was found dead in Hinchingbrooke Country Park at 1pm the following day, prompting police to launch a murder inquiry.

Mr Mechelewski’s devastated family said in a statement: ‘The killing of our son at 20 years of age, when he had his whole life ahead of him is devastating.’
They urged anyone who saw him or has any information about what happened to him to come forward.
His family said the time since Sam’s death has been the ‘worst of their lives’, adding: ‘Sam will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Sam was no angel, but his life should not have ended this way.’
Police have arrested a man in his 20s from Chatteris but released him under investigation. A man in his 20s from Brampton was detained and released with no further action.
Detective Chief Inspector Adam Gallop said: ‘A week after the discovery of Sam’s body we are again appealing to anyone with information to contact us as a matter of urgency.
‘If you recognise Sam from the CCTV image and saw him on the evening of 31 January please get in touch. You may feel that information you have is insignificant, but it might help us piece together Sam’s movements in the final hours of his life.
‘I would like to emphasise again that I believe this was a targeted attack, but one that sadly resulted in the death of a young man.’
