Pregnant woman killed by a snake was expecting a girl

The heavily pregnant woman who was killed in remote Western Australia from a snake bite was expecting a girl, her family says.

Sinita Martin, 27, was 31 weeks pregnant when she was bitten by a snake on Monday night and suffered a heart attack.

Her devastated grandmother Gloria Martin paid tribute to the ‘well mannered and respectful’ woman who she said was ‘the most kind-hearted person around’.

‘She was really excited, because she already had a son, Richi Jnr,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

Sinita was rushed to Meekatharra Hospital, about 773km northeast of Perth in WA’s Mid West region, but neither she nor the baby survived.

She was living in Perth with Ms Martin since the birth of her first child, but moved to Meekatharra just before Christmas to spend time with her mother Evelyn.

She managed to phone relatives for help but started experiencing seizures soon after the fatal bite and could not be saved.
