Missouri woman makes lucky escape after truck hits her car

She was seconds from disaster.

A woman who had been involved in a car crash in icy and snowy conditions on a Missouri Interstate made a miraculous escape from her car before being likely crushed to death.

The footage which has been shared online captured the moments before an enormous 18-wheeler slammed into the side of the her white family saloon car.

The woman who has been identified as Caroline Gardner was clearly recovering from the initial shock of slamming into the back of a different truck when she caught a glimpse of the impending disaster through the drivers-side window.

The out-of-control semi-trailer slid down the highway towards her and seemed unable to stop.

Gardner told KY3 she was texting her boyfriend after her car crashed into the back of a semi-truck.

‘I look up, and this semi is coming straight at my driver’s side door. It was the scariest thing I had ever seen in my entire life,’ she said.

She opened up the door and scrambled to escape.

As she did so, the Gardner slid onto the ice dropping her cellphone in the process.

All the while, the enormous big-rig came barreling down the road slamming straight into her vehicle.

The front end of the car appeared to clip Gardner as the was still lying on the ground.

She was knocked to the floor once more but appeared to escape all serious injuries.

The truck meanwhile flipped her car around as if it were a toy and completely crushed the side of the car smashing its windows in an instant.

‘I thought I was going to die,’ she recalled. ‘I see comments like she should not have gotten out of the car. But, he was coming straight at me and when I got out of the car he swerved,’ Gardner said.

Gardner would have either have been crushed by the truck of at the very least have suffered a severe case of whiplash having been spun around so violently by the out-of-control semi.

The video was taken earlier this week along I-44 as drivers who were heading towards the St. Louis area were caught drivers off guard, causing a massive accident.

The clip has been shared more than a million times online as viewers are captivated to see the woman escape with her life.
