Kate Upton says Guess must do ‘more than’ fire Marciano

Kate Upton was New York chic in a black turtleneck and matching coat when she was snapped in Manhattan on Thursday.

The 25-year-old spoke to TMZ on an Upper East Side street, and discussed her sexual misconduct allegations against Guess co-founder and CEO Paul Marciano.

Though she maintained Paul should lose his position, she also insisted that it will require ‘more than just firing him to change the culture inside the offices.’

She told the website: ‘I think it’s important that Guess changes the culture of their offices, and there would be a lot of changes that need to be made before I would ever consider working with them again.’

Kate, who married baseball star Justin Verlander in Tuscany this past November, said: ‘I think change comes from the top, but he’s been there for years, so it’s more than just firing him to change the culture inside the offices.’

When she was asked: ‘What would you say to other girls who want to work for guess?,’ she offered a mordant: ‘Good luck.’

In a Time interview this week, Kate claimed that when she first met with Paul in 2011, he ‘forcibly grabbed my breasts and started feeling them – playing with them actually. After I pushed him away, he said: “I’m making sure they’re real.”‘

Kate alleged that as the meeting went on he ‘continued to touch me in a very dominating and aggressive way, grabbing my thighs, my arms to pull me closer, my shoulders to pull me closer, my neck, my breasts, and smelling me.’

She shared: ‘At one point he forcibly grabbed the back of my head so that I could not move and started kissing my face and my neck.’

‘I remember not wanting to say: “Get off of me” because I didn’t want to open my mouth to say anything because I didn’t want him to be able to put his tongue in my mouth. I had two options: do everything I could to wiggle away and avoid his pursuit, or punch the CEO of Guess. So I decided to just wiggle away.’

Paul gave Time a statement denying the accusations and saying: ‘I fully support the #metoo movement. At the same time, I will not allow others to defame me and tarnish my reputation. I have pledged to Guess and its Board of Directors my full support and cooperation with a fair and impartial investigation.’

Kate first hinted allegations when she tweeted last Wednesday: ‘It’s disappointing that such an iconic women’s brand @GUESS is still empowering Paul Marciano as their creative director #metoo’.
