The Duchess of Cambridge’s uncle Gary Goldsmith cut a lonely figure last night as he arrived at the Conservative Party’s Black and White Ball.
The entrepreneur, 52, who was fined and handed a community service order for knocking his wife to the ground in October, appeared outside Natural History Museum for the fundraiser alone.
Mr Goldsmith looked rather glum as he stood outside the venue in a white double-breasted dinner jacket and black trousers.

A prominent fixture in the Conservative social calendar, the Black and White Ball is where the party’s most generous donors rub shoulders with its political elite.
Tables at the event have been known to go for as much as £15,000 while the auction of gifts – which often will involve an ‘experience’ event with ministers – is the night’s main attraction.
Tennis matches with Boris Johnson and David Cameron have been offered as gifts in previous years. Others included shoe shopping with Theresa May and a cross country run with Iain Duncan Smith.

Mr Goldsmith, who was not invited to the wedding reception of his niece Pippa last year, has long been known as the ‘black sheep’ of the Middleton clan.
Last November, Mr Goldsmith was described by Senior District Judge Emma Arbuthnot Goldsmith as engaging in drunken and ‘loutish behaviour’ when he knocked his wife Julie-Ann, 47, to the ground outside their home as they returned home from a charity event.
He was fined £5,000 and sentenced to a 12-month community order and rehabilitation sessions.
Former I’m A Celebrity contestants Stanley Johnson and Georgia Toffolo, 23, still appeared to be close as they arrived at the Conservative Party’s Black and White Ball together.
They were in high spirits as they entered the Natural History Museum. Miss Toffolo, nicknamed ‘Toff’, won the reality show in December.
She had already revealed that 77-year-old former MEP would be taking her as his guest.
