I think I did notes on seventeen drafts and it was a little bit like trying to take notes on a speeding bus. ‘
8. Bridget Jones’s Diary – Renee Zellweger kept her English accent up, both on and off-camera for the entire shoot. Actress Felicity Montagu told us ‘the first time I’d heard Rene speaking in her native accent was at the premiere….it was amazing, I just said ‘this is hard to take, this is really strange’ and she said ‘I know’.’

11. Crazy Stupid Love – Ryan Gosling has a background in ballet and the idea for the ‘Dirty Dancing’ scene was his. Emma Stone actually used a body double for the lift, although her own voice is heard.
12. Four Weddings & A Funeral – Producer Duncan Kenworthy revealed that the aristocrats in Four Weddings were all cast by the current Home Secretary, Amber Rudd.
13. Gregory’s Girl – Actress Clare Grogan told us that Gregory’s Girl was originally shown as a B movie with ‘Chariots Of Fire’ ‘and then suddenly they decided that just as many people were coming to see Gregory’s Girl.’
14. Groundhog Day – Actor Stephen Tobolowsky told us that the scene where Bill Murray embraces his character Ned was largely improvised.
15. High Fidelity – Actor Todd Louiso told us that Jack Black would try to put him off during takes by ‘farting a lot.’
16. It’s Complicated – Actress Rita Wilson told us that ‘working on ‘It’s Complicated’ was not like having a job. Don’t let anybody know that but we got paid to sit around and eat pie and hang out with your girlfriends on a gorgeous set.’
17. Knocked Up – Director Judd Apatow wanted to include the crowing scene so the audience could feel the pain of the experience, and it hadn’t been done before.
18. Love Actually – Producer Duncan Kenworthy told us that when Emma Thompson’s character cries because her husband is having an affair, her sobs were improvised: ‘that’s all Emma, I mean she wasn’t directed to do any of that.’
19. Maid In Manhattan – J-Lo’s superstar status attracted hordes of paparazzi which brought filming in New York to a standstill.
20. Man Up – Writer Tess Morris told us that the idea for the film came from a real life experience, after a man mistook her to be his blind date in Waterloo station.
21. My Best Friend’s Wedding – Test audiences hated the fact that Julia Roberts’ character originally got lucky in love so director PJ Hogan had to come up with a last-minute fix where she didn’t end up with the man.
22. My Big Fat Greek Wedding – This story began life as a one-woman stage play by the film’s lead, Nia Vardalos. Producer Rita Wilson told us that she and her husband, Tom Hanks, made sure the film was greenlit with the unknown Nia in the lead role.
23. Notting Hill – Producers were initially hesitant in casting Hugh Grant as the male lead. They feared he was too famous to play the ‘ordinary guy’.
24. Overboard – Overboard was the third & final film to star real-life couple Goldie & Kurt Russell.
25. Pretty Woman – The film’s costume designer, Marilyn Vance, told us that the necklace that Julia Roberts wears post make over cost $450,000 and had it’s own guard.
