Samantha Armytage slams people who offer opinions

Samantha Armytage has lashed out at Instagram bikini models, urging them to stop ‘inviting’ people into their lives using social media.

Without naming names, the Sunrise host said comparing our lives to others is making us ‘unhappy’ and pulling us into the ‘dramas’ of other people.

The 41-year-old also took aim at people who try to offer opinions on everything and ordered them to ‘stay in their lane’.

‘There’s so much going on these days and we are literally being invited into other people’s business courtesy of social media,’ she wrote in her column for Stellar magazine.

She then quoted Oscar Wilde, who one said: ‘My own business always bores me to death, I prefer other people’s.’

Samantha quipped: ‘But then old Occy didn’t have to contend with a steady stream of bikini-clad models on Instagram.’

She advised that not comparing yourself to other people was ‘liberating’ and made life a ‘lot simpler’.

The presenter, who hosts 20 hours of live TV a week, then admitted the industry brought ‘chaos’ into her life.

She confessed: ‘Hell, if you want more chaos in your life, come and work in TV.’

While Samantha may lament her stressful career, she helped pull in huge ratings when she presented Sunrise alongside Natalie Barr – who was drafted in to cover David Koch’s absence.

It comes after Channel Seven managed it’s huge 308,000 viewer number with two female co-hosts, as Natalie Barr joined Sam Armytage in David Koch’s absence.

While Sunrise’s numbers were up on last week, Today’s sunk further, their 243,000 metro viewers constituting a 55,000 viewer gap between the programs.

It comes after OzTam figures showed that in mid January, Sunrise beat Today show by at least 30,000 viewers every single day.

The show was a formidable ratings opponent to Sunrise prior to Lisa’s departure.

It had capitalised from momentum the year prior, where for the first time since 2003, Today won the year-long ratings battle in the all-important 5 capital cities.

Rumours of a gender imbalance have plagued the the Today show ever since July last year, when Karl Stefanovic admitted he took a hit with female viewers when he split with his wife of 21-years, Cassandra Thorburn.
