He broke his ankle six months ago after spectacularly crashing into a wall on the Mission: Impossible 6 set.
But Tom Cruise was back to his best on Saturday as he continued to film yet more stunts for the upcoming film at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
Determined to do his own stunts, the 55-year-old actor looked physically strained as he flew through the air in the high-octane scenes.

Propelled by a harness, the star took a running leap off the roof before sailing through the air in the gripping sequence.
While it’s not yet known how pivotal this will be to the plot, days earlier Tom filmed scenes in which his character U.S. government operative Ethan Hunt, was unable to enter the church and was hauled out by the police.
Despite the jaw-defying heights, the Academy Award winner appeared in his element in-between takes, waving to fans and talking into a mouth piece.

His sprightly appearance comes a day after he hobbled around at the city’s famous landmark after putting all his energy into running past cameras.
In August, Tom hurt himself as he shot a sequence in which he jumped off the top of a building and careened into a neighboring wall at an awkward angle, causing the injury.
M:I6 director Christopher McQuarrie told Empire about the incident and detailed to the film magazine how the leading man suffered the injury after three previous jumps for the stunt.

‘On the fourth try, he hit the building at a slightly different angle and he broke his ankle,’ the filmmaker said.
‘He knew the instant that he hit the building that his ankle was broken. You can see it on his face… he knew in that instant: “Well, we’re not coming back here. We’re not doing this again today”.’
Paramount, the studio making the film, issued a statement in the wake of the injury indicating that ‘production will go on hiatus while Tom makes a full recovery’.

The film’s production was put behind after the injury happened at the end of the summer, with filming halted for two months while Tom recovered.
Footage of the moment he broke his ankle was recently released, with Tom revealing that while has was supposed to crash into the side of the building in the stunt, the angle in which he landed is what led his ankle to snap.
Speaking on The Graham Norton Show while footage of his ankle breaking was aired, he explained: ‘I’m wearing two wires, they’re just safety wires because I go to full tilt and I’m sprinting as hard as I can and I hit the side of the wall.
‘That’s the stunt. I hit the side of the wall… and then I climb up on the wall and I’m supposed to run back.’
As the video began, host Graham was quick to warn viewers: ‘If you are squeamish, don’t watch this… a bone doesn’t pop out or anything but it is an odd angle for anyone’s foot to be at.’

Over the years, he has taken part in many dramatic scenes, including submerging himself in water for six minutes to film an underwater scene of him breaking into a vault for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, being flung around an airplane cabin in zero-gravity for The Mummy and many high-speed car chases.
The first full trailer for Mission: Impossible – Fallout was released this week, with the two-and-a-half minute video showing Tom taking a lot of punishment as he revives his character Ethan Hunt.
