An off-duty police officer who was with his family after watching Sesame Street Live spotted a wanted man and arrested him in the street.
Daniel Kern, 28, was on his way home from Madison Square Garden in New York City when he spotted the man who left his victim paralyzed from the waist down.
He was with his wife, one-year-old daughter and parents when he spotted Maximiliano Brito, 23, who was wanted for shooting a 21-year-old man in April.

Officer Kern had arrested Brito before while he was working at the 46th Precinct in University Heights.
He told NY Daily News: ‘I’m holding my baby at the time, walking. It was definitely a double-take moment.
‘He’s been on the run for a year. I’ve dealt with him plenty of times, I know who he is.’
He was unarmed and quickly passed his daughter to his wife and begged her to get back into their car and drive home.

Mr Kern, who joined the NYPD five years ago, managed to get the attention two Amtrak officers and quickly put Brito into a ‘bear hug’ before he was handcuffed.
Brito was charged with attempted murder and admitted the shooting in front of a pizza parlour on April 27 last year, prosecutors said.
According to the complaint, Brito fired three strikes and hit the victim Rahiem Murray once in the spine. Brito was held on a $350,000 bail or $400,000 bond.
