Axe-wielding burglars steal car as victims slept in Perth

Axe-wielding burglars broke into a family’s home as they slept stealing their car and fleeing the property.

Detectives are now hunting for three people following the horrifying burglary at a home in Perth’s north east early on Saturday morning.

The trio forced their way inside the couple’s property while they and their young child were asleep.

At around 4am, the burglars demanded the victim’s car keys and then made off with a stolen grey Mitsubishi Outlander.

The vehicle, with registration 1DLW625, has still not been recovered by officers now investigating.

Perth City Detectives have now issued a computer generated image of one of the suspects based on their description.

A spokesman for Western Australia Police said: ‘Three offenders forced entry into the premises with one of them possessing an axe.

‘They demanded the victim’s car keys and all have fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, a grey Mitsubishi Outlander with registration number 1DLW625.

‘Detectives are releasing this composite image of a male that may be able to assist with inquiries.’

The two men were described as being of a dark-skinned appearance.

The first man is said to be aged in his 20s and approximately 175cm tall and of a heavy build.

He was also wearing a light grey hooded top with dark pants and a black ‘bum bag’ over his shoulder.

A second man is described as dark but no further details about his appearance have been provided, police said.

The third person, a woman, was described as being aged between 20 and 30 and around 165cm tall. She was wearing a grey hooded top, police said. 

The couple, both 22, are said to be shaken up by the incident inside their home but were relieved nobody had been hurt, Nine News reported.
