A mother has spent five days creating life sized versions of her twin daughters in cake to celebrate their first birthday.
Lara Mason, 31, from Walsall, spent 120 hours creating the convincing replicas of her daughters Lily and Lyla.
The two cakes took 4kg of buttercream, 3kg of fondant icing, 5kg of chocolate, 44 eggs and 2.2kg flour to bake, and were presented to the delighted twins at their ‘cake smash’ birthday party.

Sharing the incredible pictures to the Motherload Facebook group, the little girls can be seen dressed in pink tutus and white t-shirts, boasting golden bows in their hair- identical to the outfits worn by the cake babies.
Captioning the snaps, the amateur baker shared the stress she had gone through to bake the creations alongside her job.
‘Under a bit of pressure with the girls’ first birthday Cake/Cake Smash because I used to make cakes on the side of my real job… So I decided to do what any other slightly bonkers person would do and combine the two!’, Lara, a customer service advisor, revealed.

And despite her remarkable effort, Lara admitted she was a perfectionist, continuing: ‘Not exactly as I would have liked them, mad rush on to get them done before the big day, and little Lyla getting poorly last week didn’t help!’

But her effort paid off, with the sweet little girls delighted with their special treat, pictured admiring and enjoying the messy goods.

Speaking to the parenting group, the mother revealed the incredible amount of work that went into baking the cakes.
‘The cakes have taken a fair few hours, I’d say about 100 to 120 hours over the last few weeks,’ she said.
‘Most of that time goes into the decorative icing pieces, so the cakes themselves I’ve been rushing to get done over the last week.
‘They are made up of 22 six inch round Madeira cakes, 4kg of buttercream, 3kg of fondant icing and 5kg of chocolate. That’s 44 eggs, 2.2kg flour, sugar and butter just for the cakes!’ she added.
The dedicated mother left no detail to chance, adding: ‘The hair is made out of pulled sugar so i had to make every individual strand separately, I’d say that was the hardest part. It’s the most critical I have ever been while making ‘cake people’ because I feel like I did such a good job making them so cute in the first place!’
And her pictures went down a storm, with confused mothers marvelling over the likeness between the babies.

‘I had to read this twice before I realised you didn’t have 4 girls turning 1. Amazing job, well done xxx’, Chelsea said.
Another mother by the name of Nicki was astounded the babies weren’t quadruplets, commenting: ‘Absolutely amazing! I literally at first glance thought that was 4 babies! They look like they are having a blast too’.
Agreeing, Lynsey added: I thought you had quads!! That is bloody amazing! And to make those while caring for twins!! You my dear are some sort of magnificent genie!!’
Lara started making cakes just as a hobby for her family and friends before she decided to enter the Cake International competition in November 2013.
In her first year she picked up Gold Award for her 5ft 5in replica of Captain Jack Sparrow from Disney blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean.
She has also scooped the same prize for her 3ft-high cake creation of Prince George at the event in November 2015.
Lara added: ‘I’ve just tried to make bigger and better cakes. I just love coming up with new ideas.
‘Teaching baking is what I’d love to do in the future, I’d like to pass on what I know to others so they can make their own creations.’
