Police said Abberton, who is the brother of fellow Bra Boys founders Koby and Sunny, forced his way into a South Coogee unit in December last year and ‘assaulted a 43-year-old man with a knife’.

The occupant of the unit was taken to hospital and treated for a non-life threatening leg injury.

Police arrested Abberton on Wednesday after making inquiries into the December 12 incident. He was refused bail and due to face Waverly Local Court on Thursday.

Two years ago, Koby Abberton told news.com.au that Jai had discovered Islam.

‘Jai is going to the mosque and has just come through Ramadan,’ Koby said.

In 2003, Jai Abberton shot dead standover man Tony Hines, whose naked body was found at the base of cliffs at Maroubra, in Sydney’s east.
