Former CIA official cries when talking about shootings

A former CIA and FBI turned CNN commentator broke down in tears on Wednesday while talking about the deadly shooting of 17 people at a Florida high school.  

While discussing the shooting at Majory Stoneman Douglas High School by Nikolas Cruz on Wednesday, Philip Mudd became overcome with emotion and exclaimed ‘a child of God is dead.’ 

‘Cannot we acknowledge in this country,’ Mudd said to CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, ‘that we… we cannot accept this.’

Known for his stern demeanor, Mudd spent several years in the CIA beginning in 1985. 

With primary focus on counterterroism, he would eventually do work in the White House during the early 2000s 

Mudd tries to continue on but ultimately had to tell Blitzer, ‘I can’t do it, Wolf. I’m sorry. We can’t do it.’

The camera then pans away from Mudd as Blitzer tries to give him time to collect himself. 

Mudd eventually came back and gave his thought’s on Cruz’s motives for the shooting that left 17 dead and more than 50 injured.

Cruz was armed with at least one AR-15 rifle and had ‘multiple magazines’ when he stormed the school wearing a gas mask, according to the sheriff.

Investigators are now looking into whether Cruz may have pulled the fire alarm to draw people into halls so he could get a higher death toll.
