One person has been seriously injured following an eight vehicle pile-up between London and Gatwick Airport.
Two lorries and six other vehicles crashed on the M23 northbound on Thursday leaving one car overturned and the diesel tank of a HGV spilling fuel across the road.
The injured person whose identity remains unknown was taken to the severe trauma theatre at St George’s hospital in Tooting for emergency treatment.

One witness Zoltan Szentpeteri tweeted: ‘M23, this is not looking good. I have been here over an hour. Eight car/lorry accident. The number of emergency vehicles must be close to 20.’
