The 68th Berlin Film Festival launched with much fanfare and the usual smattering of A-list glamour in the German capital on Thursday evening.
And with Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animated adventure Isle of Dogs chosen as its official opener, actress Elle Fanning, 19, brought a touch of class to the red carpet – where she was joined by an array of stars.
The American star caught the eye in a sweeping red cape and accompanying silver gown as she made her first appearance at this year’s event.

Isle of Dogs is set for release in U.S. movie theaters in March and internationally in April. It is the first animated film to open the Berlin festival, and the fourth movie Anderson has presented in the event’s competition. Most recently he brought The Grand Budapest Hotel to Berlin in 2014.
His new movie also features the voices of Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson, among others.
