Adorable pooch causes extreme delays on Brooklyn subways

Major delays rattled subways going to and from Brooklyn after a dog escaped from a dog park and dashed unto the train tracks, running between stations.

Dakota, a three-year-old Poodle mix, had been at a dog park near the Manhattan Bridge in Brooklyn, New York, on Friday afternoon when she was spooked.

‘I think she just got scared and ran,’ owner, 27-year-old Caroline Francis, told the New York Daily News.

‘I’m worried. I guess I’m in a state of shock. They found her, and we’re hoping for the best.’

Francis had been at home working, when Dakota fled around 2.55pm from a dog walker.

The 11lbs pooch ran into the York Street Station and wound up on the tracks, according to a statement to police spokesman, George Tsourovakas, explained to the New York Times.

Francis explained that the dog was familiar with the area and knew how to get to the station. The walker explained what happened, but Francis quickly dismissed playing the blame game.

Dakota bolted south on the northbound track, but as witnesses began alerting transit workers, the dog made her way to Jay Street station.

The MTA decided to shut down the F lines at those stations and then the A and C trains ran into their own set of delays.

As passengers became more disgruntled, a frantic Dakota made her way to Bergen Street around 4.06pm.

But there, train service supervisor, Sanya Hill, spotted the dog and leapt into action on the tracks.

‘I had my flashlight out and I was looking and then I saw the dog,’ Hill said to the Daily News.

‘I didn’t want her to bite me, I didn’t want to scare her any more than she was. She was already shaking and already curled up all the way to the back of the platform.’

And Hill scooped the dog up and delivered her into the hands of Francis, who was beyond elated.

‘I just patted her to make sure she was calm — me and her, we had an understanding,’ Hill explained.

‘After I calmed her down a little I just picked her up and took her to the platform.’

Dakota did suffer a minor injury of a fractured jaw and had some respiratory arrest issues due to jumping and running along the tracks.

Francis waited for her pup to hopefully make a speedy recovery at the vet.

‘She’s got terrible separation anxiety,’ said Francis.
