Tactical police officers armed with assault rifles stormed a quiet street south of Melbourne on Monday afternoon after shots were fired at an apartment block.
Heavily-armed police wearing bullet proof vests were seen in numbers roaming Adelphi Boulevard in Point Cook just after 5.30pm.
Residents were told to lock their doors as police searched for a gunman, believed to have fired shots at an apartment block.
A man has been interviewed by police and another is on the run after the shooting.

Police spoke to a man at the scene but have not taken anyone in to custody, a spokesperson confirmed to Daily Mail Australia.
The two men were believed to know each other.

Local Debbie Richards told the Herald Sun that there ‘was a shooting in one of the apartments in Soho Village precinct’
