Simple $65 white T-shirt already has 600 person wait list

A simple $65 T-shirt has already accrued a wait list of over 600 people and the basic top hasn’t even launched yet.

The brand AYR, short for All Year Round, is set to launch it’s first ever line of knits and T-shirts and their simple tee has racked up hundreds of patient customers ready to get their hands on one.

While the T-shirts don’t officially launch until February 26, people will have to wait even longer as the list keeps growing and it even managed to get over 250 entries in the first hour that it launched.

AYR launched the wait list on it’s website on Tuesday and by the end of the first day they already had 600 people wait-listed with even more numbers added to that since.

People are lining up for the two styles of tees launching at the end of the month and the first is the Supercool, a cap sleeve tee in white and faded black for $65.

The second shirt launching is the tank top Fizz, a sleeveless pocket tee which also in white and faded black colorways for $55.

Both of these simple tees are made of 100% Peruvian cotton, making them light and airy but for some people $65 is a ton of money to spend on a plain cotton T-shirt.

However, while it definitely is a lot to spend on a white shirt the brand boasts that it spent a year sourcing the softest cotton and designing the perfect fit, which does sound delightful.

AYR is not new to wait lists and the cult brand has actually had thousands of people wait to get their hands on some of it’s previous pieces.

Getting customers excited about the new cotton tee launch, the brand said in a statement, ‘Perfect with a pair of jeans, slacks or a casual skirt, these T’s are about to become your newest wardrobe staple.’

Both styles will be available for purchase online and in-store at AYR’s LA Pop-Up but you really do need to act fast.

The current growing wait list is for people to get their shirts as soon as they launch and the demand is already almost double what AYR bought for the styles of tees.

Despite being the brand’s first foray into knitwear it’s customers already trust that the product is going to be amazing and it’s clear they’re a hit before they’ve even hit.

Can you tell? The AYR Supercool tee (pictured) is $65 but a basic white Hanes tee (pictured) from Kmart is just a mere $5 and you can hardly tell the difference

Although the white tees made of Peruvian cotton sound fantastic, spending a ton of money on a T-shirt or tank top is hard to wrap your head around when there are similar tees out there that cost $5-$10.

All the hype around the Supercool tee is still yet to be determined and when compared to a $5 Kmart tee it is actually quite hard to tell the difference between the two.

This is definitely not the first time that customers have waiting in long lines just to get their hands on a product they really want.

Just the other day there was a 3,000 person wait list for a pair of basic $128 cropped flare jeans from Reformation.

Meanwhile, when beloved brand Everlane announced they were launch a pair of $50 work trousers over 12,000 people added their names to the wait list before they even launched.
