Mr Butler did have a lump, but only went to his doctor after he had a back ache, which he assumed was from work. By then it was too late because the cancer had spread.

‘I’d say to young men not to be afraid to speak out if they feel there is something wrong and to be persistent as early as possible,’ his mother, Jackie, 52, said.

‘Dylan went from testicular cancer to stage four so quickly, he really didn’t have a chance.’

In November 2016 the 22-year-old had just finished an apprenticeship with a landscape construction firm when he went to the doctor complaining of a bad back.

But Mr Butler was later diagnosed with testicular cancer which had already spread to his liver, lungs and brain.

Chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery weren’t able to save his life.

He was rushed to hospital early last month and died last week surrounded by family and friends.

His funeral is on Monday at Long Reef Golf Club in Collaroy.
