MAFS’ John and Melissa face ‘family crisis’

They were plagued by rumours that they had split and were ‘faking’ their relationship on Married At First Sight.

But John Robertson and Melissa Walsh will remain defiant in the face of their critics, as they support each other through a tense ‘family crisis’.

The couple go to Melissa’s house, where a man presumed to be her father angrily says ‘don’t whinge – just get on with it!’ in scenes set to air on Sunday’s episode.

Hinting at trouble ahead, the teaser’s voice-over says: ‘Why married at first sight’s john is standing by Mel through thick and thin, as Mel faces her biggest family crisis.’

The pair are seen politely greeting an elderly man, but things appear to take a sour turn later on.

Sitting at a table, the man seems irate as he talks to an unidentified person while Melissa sits next to him with a tense expression on her face.

Earlier in the week, fans were shocked to hear that one of the strongest couple had parted ways.

‘John can’t fail twice, so production pretty much told Mel to just smile and nod and enjoy the ride,’ a source close to the couple told New Idea on Monday.

‘They get on well, but they are very different people,’ the insider added.

Melissa denied the claims, telling Daily Mail Australia that New Idea’s story was ‘totally false’.

And on Thursday, their co-star Jo McPharlin also quashed the break-up rumours and hinted that the pair were still going strong.

Sharing a selfie with the pair, the 39-year-old single mother described what the couple had as ‘real love’.

‘I was so star struck when I first met John I couldn’t even say hello,’ confessed Jo.

‘I’m so thankful he found gorgeous Melissa and real love,’ she wrote, adding the hashtags, ‘gives me faith’ and ‘feel so lucky’.

And while many fans were quick to compliment the three cheerful reality stars, some took to the comments section to remark that they were ‘confused’ after hearing John and Melissa had split.

‘Hey guys don’t believe everything U read,’ wrote back Jo with a wink face emoji.

Married At First Sight continues Sunday night with another drama-filled commitment ceremony.
