Alexandra Burke’s brother has been jailed for punching his girlfriend in the face and breaking her nose after she asked him to stop smoking cannabis inside her house.
Aaron Burke, 25, kicked Jessica Kenney to the floor, grabbed her by the throat and repeatedly hit her, a court heard.
She had invited him to her property after learning his mother Melissa Bell, a member of Eighties band Soul II Soul, had died.

But when she requesting he refrain from taking illegal drugs, he lashed out and began attacking her.
He was arrested just days after his mother passed away and while his famous older sister Alexandra appeared on the BBC’s One Show.
Burke claimed at an earlier hearing he was attacked by Jessica but admitted assault before his trial was due to start.
A judge sentenced him today to 15 months in prison and gave him a five-year restraining order against his ex, following a hearing at Blackfriars Crown Court.
The Sun reports the 25-year-old smiled as learning his sentence was reduced for his guilty plea and gave the ‘thumbs up’ sign to friends in the public gallery.
The newspaper said he told his new girlfriend ‘see you soon’ as he was taken into the cells.
Strictly Come Dancing runner-up Alexandra, 29, spoke on the show about her grief at losing her mother — and privately about the shame over her brother’s violent record.
A source told the Sun of Sunday in December: ‘I can’t imagine how she feels. Alexandra must be horrified at these allegations. At the same time, blood is blood and she doesn’t want to see her brother languishing in prison.’
