The Explorer cruise ship was forced to turn back to Sydney after the brawl. Those involved were detained in on-board cells during the return journey.

A P&O spokesman told Daily Mail Australia it called authorities early on Sunday morning to remove ‘a group of people from the ship as a result of their behaviour on board overnight’.

‘This is in line with our strict policy of zero tolerance of excessive behaviour that— affects the safety, comfort and enjoyment of other guests,’ he said.

He said the Pacific Explorer was on a three-night round trip cruise from Sydney when the brawl broke out.
