Peta Butler has revealed the moment she forced her mother to confess to orchestrating her teenage rape in a chilling phone call so that she could bring her to justice.
At just 16 years of age Peta endured horrific suffering when her mother Therese allowed a man known as ‘Thommo’ into their motel room to rape her in Toowoomba in 2006.
‘I think to myself, how could a mum do what she did,’ Peta told A Current Affair.

While her daughter was violated Therese Butler sat outside smoking cigarettes after giving Peta four Vodka Cruisers to drink and leaving her in the room while she was raped by Thommo, who had unprotected sex with the girl.
Peta says at the time she was not strong enough to speak out and that she didn’t think people would believe her.
However somebody did believe her – Detective Senior Constable Jodi Bell and with her support she was able to coax Therese into a confession.
She told her mother that she had told him no and that she was crying.
Therese responded: ‘It was still, yeah, it was still rape, but you were 16. I wouldn’t let him touch you under 16, no way.’

With the phone call used as evidence, it was able to aid the case which saw Therese be sentenced to four years in prison, suspended after 12 months, for procuring a child for carnal knowledge.
Police are now hunting for the rapist, ‘Thommo’, who has never been found.
He spoke to Therese online before she allowed him to assault her daughter.
Detectives suspect ‘Thommo’ has more victims to his name, and they are desperately seeking to bring him to justice.
