A school was put on a lockdown after a stranger was spotted snooping on the grounds.
Police were called to Whites Hill State College in south Brisbane on Friday afternoon when a member of staff saw the woman acting suspiciously around the school.
But detectives investigating an earlier suspected incident at a primary school which sparked concern have ruled it was a ‘series of misunderstandings’.
Police issued a computer image of a suspect and of a Toyota Rav4 car matching descriptions following two previous reported incidents
A woman now being hunted for the incident at the Whites Hill school on Friday afternoon is believed to be the same person wanted by police in connection with reports a fortnight ago of children being approached.
Police are now warning parents to remain vigilant after the latest report in Camp Hill and have released an image of a woman they want to question.
The earlier investigation has now been concluded after fears were raised when a woman was pictured with a young girl unknown to her at an event at the Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School.
A spokesman for Queensland Police Service said: ‘Detectives investigating reported suspicious behaviour at a Camp Hill school on Old Cleveland Road today have determined the incident to be a misunderstanding.
A staff member approached the woman while she was on school grounds at Whites Hill State College, police said
‘The woman whose image was issued as part of a police appeal was at the school function lawfully and was not involved in any suspicious activity.
‘The woman is also in no way associated with a further incident at a school on Jade Street in Camp Hill around 1.30pm where a woman was sighted on school grounds.’
At 1.30pm a woman was spotted by a member of staff at Whites Hill school.
She was confronted by them and left the school before police arrived to lock down the site.
Police carried out patrols of the nearby area and officers are now linking the incidents to two previously reported in February.
Police have confirmed an earlier suspicious incident at Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School was ‘a series of misunderstandings’
A spokesman for Queensland Police Service said: ‘Police believe the woman is the same person involved in two other incidents on February 19 and 23 in Runcorn and MacGregor where school students were approached by a woman in a silver SUV and offered a lift.
‘The woman is described as Asian in appearance, proportionate build with black hair and brown eyes.
‘The vehicle has been described as a silver SUV similar in size to a Toyota Rav 4.’
Police say they are hunting for the woman and have urged anyone with information about her to come forward.
Officers have also issued advice about what to do to remain on their guard around stranger-danger threats.
The QPS spokesman added: ‘Police are advising children to be careful when walking to and from school and to be aware of their surroundings and not accept lifts from anyone that is not known to.’
