Flights full of vomiting passengers land in DC amid strong winds

Flights full of vomiting passengers have been landing in Washington DC as powerful winds buffeted the state today.

Even the pilots were on the verge of throwing up as the planes were hit with heavy turbulence on Friday.

One passenger, My Nguyen, was flying back to Washington on a Jet Blue aircraft when the turbulence hit.

She warned anyone planning to fly into DC today, to ‘rebook it for tomorrow.’

‘Just experienced the rockiest landing at Natl, passengers were vomiting. Winds were accelerating the plane too fast to touch down, but our amazing pilot Chris on @JetBlue nailed the landing after failed attempt,’ she tweeted.

‘With that said, I never want to do that again’.

The woman next to her was simultaneously throwing up and having a panic attack as she wrote the message.

Nguyen said that the pilot had warned at one point, they may have to reroute to Richmond if they couldn’t make the landing.

‘So glad to be one of the ones who made it!’ she added.

An unnamed passenger on a Southwest Air flight from Orlando to Reagan National Airport said the turbulence was so bad as he came into land, he thought he was going to die.

‘I still kind feel shaken up,’ he said. ‘When you have that adrenaline and you’re not sure if you’re going to live. That’s kind of sad but that’s kinda how I felt.’

The man added that passengers all around him were throwing up as they came in to land.

Conor McCreery, who was flying into Washington’s Dulles International Airport, noted there was ‘a LOT of puking on that flight’ after he landed.

He added that the flight had been delayed because President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania were taking off in Air Force One from the airport, bound for Rev. Billy Graham’s funeral in Charlotte, North Carolina. It’s not clear whether Air Force One also suffered similar turbulence issues.

A pilot’s report revealed that the extremely bumpy ride had all of the plane’s 50 or so passengers reaching for their sick bags.

‘Very bumpy on descent. Pretty much everyone on the plane threw up,’ a pilot said in a report filed with the National Weather Service’s aviation center.

‘Pilots were on the verge of throwing up,’ the report continued.

More than a dozen flights out of Dulles, in Northern Virginia, were canceled Friday and thousands more were canceled across the country as the Nor’easter slammed the East Coast with winds of up to 90mph.

Video shot at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, in Washington, showed a Southwest plane attempting to land in the powerful winds.

The aircraft tilted dangerously from side to side as it came closed to the runway.

At the last moment, the pilot appeared to change his mind and pulled up from the landing.

The plane touched down on a different runway 10 minutes later.

Another clip showed a different aircraft struggling to take off from Reagan Airport in the storm.

Some 2,600 flights have been cancelled and another 1,400 have been delayed today as the East Coast is battered by the powerful Nor’easter known as ‘bombogenesis’ which brought with it snow and strong winds.

As of midday EST, an estimated 500,000 people along the northeast coast had lost power and more were expected to see outages as the day wore on.

Hurricane strength winds of 80 to 90mph are a possibility in Cape Cod and heavy snow is also due to be seen in Ohio.

As much 18 inches of snow fell in parts of upstate New York and Pennsylvania on Friday morning and at least three inches fell in New York City.

It is a sudden and dramatic change from the false-start Spring weather seen earlier in the week.
