This is the terrifying moment gale-force winds tear off an airport’s departure hall roof as people flee for their lives.
The dramatic incident took place at Terminal 2 of Nanchang Changbei International Airport in East China’s Jiangxi Province on Sunday.
Clips circulating online show the precise moment strong winds rip away masonry piece by piece, causing debris to collapse onto the pavement outside the pick-up area.

Pedestrians and drivers fled the glass facade of Terminal 2, the videos show, with images also depicting debris having been blown onto the airport’s tarmac.
Fortunately, according to an official statement from the airport, no one was injured or killed during the collapse at 3:35pm local time.
This is despite social media videos showing paramedics tending to at least one person.
A number of vehicles also appear to be damaged.
According to reports, departing passengers were diverted to the arrivals hall. Normal operations resumed by the evening.

Wind speeds of over 30 metres per second were recorded when the accident happened, reports added.
Construction on Changbei airport began in 1996 and was completed in 1999.
It serves the city of Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi Province.
