Macaulay Culkin goes on Twitter spree about the Oscars

Macaulay Culkin may not have got an invite to the Oscars last night, but that didn’t stop him having fun at the awards ceremony’s expense.

The Home Alone star went on a hilarious five-hour Twitter binge, taking a swipes at the nominees and movies – despite the fact that he wasn’t watching the coverage.

‘I will be live tweeting the Oscars tonight, but I won’t be watching them,’ he tweeted last night, ‘WHA!?! That’s crazy!

Macaulay Culkin spent the night of the Oscars posting hilarious tweets about the nominees and winners. When he wasn’t tweeting, Culkin was keeping himself entertained in a variety of different ways

‘Question: Do you guys have any suggestions for what I should be doing instead of watching the show?’

He then shared photos of himself, dressed up to the nines in a tuxedo, hanging out at home and catching up with his hobbies; which included playing the guitar, watching cartoons and painting his toenails.

When he wasn’t making ramen in his suit, or ‘playing with myself’ – playing with children’s toys on his own – he was tweeting jokes about the movies and the stars being celebrated at the glamorous Oscars ceremony.

Here are some of his best:

‘Water takes the shape of whatever container it is in, this entire movie is horse s**t. #Oscars,’ he wrote about the best picture winner, The Shape of Water.

‘The Disaster Artist was the worst harry potter movie this year #Oscars,’ he added.

‘I firmly believe that @carlyraejepsen ‘s “Call Me By Your Name” should win Best Picture #Oscars,’ he added.

Meanwhile, Culkin had a clear favorite movie of the night – Boss Baby.

‘Please be Boss Baby, Please be Boss Baby, Please be Boss Baby, Please be Boss Baby… #Oscars.’

The movie was nominated in the animated movie category but lost out to Coco.

The former child star also joked that I, Tonya star Magot Robbie may have taken a little too much inspiration from her character.

‘BREAKING NEWS: Oh snap, @MargotRobbie just kneecapped all four other Best Actress nominees #Oscars #ITonya,’ he tweeted.

He also had praise for Mother! star Jennifer Lawrence, writing: ‘What CAN’T Jennifer Lawrence do? Return my calls for starters…’

Culkin added that Daniel Day Lewis, famed for going to extreme lengths for his roles, ‘was great as Daniel Kaluuya in Get Out #Method.’

He also had a few zingers for some of the stars and executives who most certainly did not get an invite to this year’s awards, such as Harvey Weinstein, accused of raping and harassing scores of actresses while one of the most powerful producers in Hollywood, and actor Kevin Spacey, accused of molesting a teenage boy.

‘EXCLUSIVE: I heard Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein were going to come disguised as a very tall man in a long trench coat but they got busted by security. #Oscars,’ he tweeted.

‘Casey Affleck couldn’t make it cause he was stuck in the 1950s,’ he added of the actor, who previously faced two sexual harassment lawsuits.

But Culkin saved plenty of self-deprecating humor for himself. The 37-year-old, who revealed in a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon that the most frequent rumor he heard about himself was that he died, said: ‘I’m bummed this is the FOURTH year in a row I was left out of the In Memoriam #Oscars #NotDeadYet.’

Culkin has been spotted looking happy and healthy in recent months with new girlfriend Brenda Song, 29.

Macaulay and Brenda struck up their relationship earlier this year when they were introduced to one another while shooting former Austin Powers star Seth Green’s directorial debut, Changeland, in Thailand.

Since then, they’ve been seen dining at high end restaurants and even took a trip to Paris – where Culkin has had a house since 2013 following his split from Jordan Lane Price.

But back in 2012 it was a different story – with pictures of Culkin looking skinny and haggard setting the tabloids aflame with rumors of drug abuse, something he has denied.

Culkin, since starring in the iconic Home Alone films, has portrayed legendary New York City ‘club kid’ Michael Alig (Party Monster) and has a starring role in his friend Green’s  Changeland.

Culkin, who legally separated from his parents in 1994 – he said his father Kit was ‘abusive’ and ‘jealous’ of his success – took a long break from the limelight but now appears ready for a tentative return. He has also runs ‘lifestyle brand’ Bunny Ears.
