Kate Langbroek attacked by ‘drug user’ in her St Kilda family home

Radio host Kate Langbroek has shown off severe bruises she suffered when a ‘crazed’ person attempted to break into her family home last Friday evening.

Langbroek, the co-host of top-rating Melbourne radio show ‘Hughesy & Kate’, took to Twitter on Wednesday afternoon to post an image of her badly bruised right arm.

The comedian claims that she and her husband had just arrived back at their St Kilda home when a man attempted to force his way into her babysitter’s car, before being involved in a scuffle and trying to break into their house.

As she went to investigate, the ‘deranged’ man turned on Langbroek and attempted to push past her and into where her children – aged from eight to 12 – were sleeping.

The 52-year-old and her husband Peter were able to keep him at bay, but the incident led the radio star to call on the Victorian government to clean up the area which has a long history of drug overdoses and sex use.

‘Martin Foley thanks for your call yesterday,’ Langbroek wrote to her local member on Twitter.

‘This is the bruise I sustained trying to keep that “vulnerable” resident from kicking our front door in on Friday night.

‘Children inside. The real vulnerable are the decent citizens of St Kilda. We await your action.’

The man responsible for the attack has reportedly been charged by police.

St Kilda has long had a history of rampant drug use and Langbroek told The Age that problems have only increased since the notorious Gatwick Hotel was shut down.

‘Our children walk to school and [the other day] we saw a guy get a Glasgow kiss,’ TV and radio star Langbroek said.

‘He was walking around the corner with his headphones in and he got headbutted in broad daylight. It’s crazy.’
