Up to 12 people are stranded at the top of Blackpool Tower after a fire broke out at the iconic landmark.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 12.40pm today and the building has been evacuated.
Nearby Bank Hey Street has been closed and the call came in from builders who spotted smoke coming from the roof of the building at the base of the tower.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said between 10 and 12 people are at the top of the tower and added: ‘We have four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform at Blackpool Tower following reports of a fire.
‘No injuries have been reported but several people are being held in a safe area at the top of the tower.’
Manager of the Merlin Cluster of attractions in Blackpool, Kate Shane, told the Blackpool Gazette contractors working on the roof of the building at the base of the tower started a small fire which triggered the smoke alarm.
The alarms then trigger a full evacuation, she said.
