Rance James Shannon, 27, who beeped at police and firefighters who were clearing a traffic accident
A man with a stash of drugs and assault rifles in his car has been arrested in Florida after honking his horn at cops who were trying to clear an accident in the road, police said.
Rance James Shannon, 27, beeped at police and firefighters who were clearing a traffic accident near University of Florida student housing at 2.35am, Gainesville Police said.
When a cop approached the man, he noticed a strong smell of marijuana and said Shannon slurred his words and yelled before trying to drive away.
He was then asked to get out of his car, with police finding about $10,400, a knife and a loaded magazine in his waistband, The Gainesville Sun reports.
When they initially searched his car, they found a loaded pistol on the passenger’s seat and pepper spray and a baton in the driver’s door.
Investigating further, they found an AR-15 assault rifle, 264 grams of marijuana stored in five jars, 94.5 grams of cocaine, 16.5 Xanax pills, an Oxycodone pill and 11.6 grams of amphetamine powder under the floor of the car.
In the back seat, a bag with cannabis candy and 71.7 grams of marijuana was found.
The trunk, they say, contained an AK-47, four handguns, a stun gun, baseball bat, bolt cutters and gloves.

But Shannon said he was a ‘nice guy’ because he didn’t shoot the cops despite having the opportunity.
He also thought he was allowed to have the weapons even though he is a convicted felon.
Shannon has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon while unlicensed, synthetic narcotics and other drugs possession, cocaine trafficking and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
He was taken to Alachua County jail.
