Megyn Kelly dances in a statement necklace and full make-up on Today

Megyn Kelly returned to her roots on Thursday, with the NBC host welcoming celebrity trainer Amanda Kloots onto the set of Studio 3A for a little aerobic activity.

The former Broadway dancer and veteran news anchor got right down to business, with Amanda showing Megyn and her audience four dance moves to help dial up their cardio burn.

And Megyn, who taught aerobics during her high school and college years, was happy to join in and help with the demonstration, proving she is still on form all these years later.

Producers busted out the high-impact segment of ‘fun’ cardio dance moves just two days after a report emerged claiming NBC was focusing on Megyn’s hour of Today rather than her ratings-challenged news magazine.

Page Six spoke with a network source who said that a recent release explaining that Megyn Kelly Tonight would be airing periodically provided NBC with ‘the benefit of giving the network a way to scale back the poorly received show without the awkwardness of canceling it.’

An NBC insider scoffed at that however, especially in light of how much Megyn has been doing at the network.

‘She anchors the 9 am hour of ‘Today’ every morning, has a prime-time hour with Putin this Friday and will be a big fixture at political events as the midterms heat up. That’s as front-and-center as it gets,’ said the insider.

Megyn is also coming off what appears to have been a well-received turn moderating the State of the Union address back in January.

Politics was far from Megyn’s mind however on Thursday.

She kicked her workout segment off by revealing her teaching history, as the show returned from its final break to show Amanda, Megyn and four other women lined up on stage for the high energy demonstration.

‘All right! So in another life and another body, I used to be an aerobics instructor. Yes, I did. Dancing your way through a workout is one of the most popular ways to destress, burn calories and tone the body,’ said Megyn, sounding exactly like the kind of person who would be leading a group fitness class.

‘I loved doing it. Amanda loves doing it too. She’s a celebrity personal trainer and founder of the dance here in New York City. As we try this today, we’re going to learn some of the moves.’

Amanda then broke down the moves in less than 20 seconds.

‘The first move is put your hands on your hips. This is for your abs. Shake it to the left. Shake it to the core. Yes, yes, uh-huh. Good, all right,’ she said as Megyn gyrated with a smile right next to her in the studio.

‘For your legs, you go two to the right, two to the left and then singles, right, left, right, left. Look how good she is.’

Megyn did in fact seem right at home, but before she could revel in the instructor’s adoration it was on to the next move.

‘Now you’re going to slide and clap, slide and clap. You’re going to work your waist. And two more,’ she told the enthused group, who at that point were just 30 seconds into the routine.

‘Now, your last one, this is my favorite. Your arms go up, up, and then come down. You go up, up, down. Yes. And I want you to think of squeezing your inner thighs.’

All four moves were then put together and Megyn was put to the test, proving herself to more than capable despite the fact that she was attired in a gym look that was more Carolina Herrera than Caroline Wozniacki.

‘It’s kinda hard,’ said Megyn, who was wearing a large gold statement necklace with faux-pearl bauble, a very crisp and very white oxford and had on a full face of make-up.

She was more appropriately attired form the waist down in sneakers and black athletic pants, which she had on for the entire program.

Those pants were worn with Megyn’s favorite pair of white pumps earlier in the program in a bold pre-Memorial Day choice that both she and her ABC rival Kelly Ripa have become fond of in recent weeks.

This is not the first time that Megyn has shown off her aerobic abilities, with the host also showcasing some old videos of her jazzercising in the 80s during her first week on the air at Today.

It will be back to politics on Friday when NBC News air Megyn’s hour-long primetime special with Vladmir Putin at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT.

Kelly sat down for two exclusive one-on-one interviews with Putin last week, speaking with him inside the Kremlin and at the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad ahead of the country’s election this month.

Kelly pressed President Putin on Russia’s alleged cyber-attack on American democracy and nuclear weapons development, as well his views on President Trump, his own election campaign and the war in Syria.

He also denied any Russian interference in the 2016 presidnetial election.
