When you’re a Victoria’s Secret model, looking bikini ready 365 days of the year is just a part of the job.
And while you think that equates to several hours spent in the gym, Victoria’s Secret model Romee Strijd has revealed that she’s adopted a much more balanced approach to working out and staying fit.
Speaking to Elle, the 22-year-old Dutch beauty revealed what keeps her motivated and shared her top tips for making exercise as easy, fast and fun as possible.

Tricks: Although she works out four to five times per week, Romee is a big fan of doing short bursts of exercise for 15 minutes when she’s not feeling very motivated

‘I’ve tried the infrared sauna and I actually really like it. You have all these different colored lights and every color does something different,’ she explained.
Workout while traveling
While most people take a break from exercise when traveling, Romee’s job means she must adapt her workout to suit her hectic travelling schedule and has recently started working out in her hotel rooms.
‘It’s actually fun to sometimes be by yourself, put your headphones on, make a little workout schedule and just do it,’ she shared.
Have gym dates with your significant other
Romee also revealed that she loves working out with her boyfriend, Laurens van Leeuwen, and although they don’t follow the same routine or do the same exercises, they always make time for a planking challenge.
She explained: ‘I think it’s really motivating [to work out with your partner], because whenever I don’t feel like it, he’s like, “Oh, come on. Let’s do it! Let’s get it over with!”‘
Get into a routine
Romee has made a habit out of working out four to five times per week and on days off likes to work out first thing in the morning. However, on the days she’s working, she always goes to to gym straight after work before sitting down to eat dinner.
Buddy up: Romee also revealed that she loves working out with her boyfriend and other Victoria’s Secret models as they usually go for brunch afterwards.
Routine: She also shared that she has built exercise into her routine, always fitting in a workout before sitting down to dinner in the evenings
No equipment necessary: Romee also likes to complete certain exercises without equipment and has devised workouts she can do in hotel rooms or on the go
Snack attack: Because she travels so much, Romee always ensures she has healthy snacks to hand including dark chocolate, fruit and RXbars
Don’t rely on equipment
Proving that you don’t need fancy equipment or an expensive gym membership to get in shape, Romee also shared that she achieves her washboard abs courtesy of a simple series of exercises she can do anywhere.
‘I’ve been doing everything myself with ankle weights and resistance bands, and I bring my jump rope when I travel. You can even do it in a hotel room if you have a mat,’ she said.
Make the gym a social event
As well as working out with her boyfriend, Romee loves to workout with her fellow Victoria’s Secret Angels and shared that they frequently hit the gym together before going for brunch afterwards.
Choose short burst of HIIT
Despite leading an active lifestyle, Romee also admitted that sometimes she struggles to find the motivation to workout.
On those days, she opts for short, sharp burst of high intensity intervals to get her through her workout quickly: ‘Just do something. Say to yourself that you only have 15 minutes or something and then it comes from there.’
Snack smart
Because she travels so much, Romee relies on snacks to see her through the day. She’s currently loving fruit, dark chocolate from Hu Kitchen and RXbars.
‘Just make sure you have enough with you,’ she added.
