Former No. 2 overall pick Derrick Williams will join the Los Angeles Lakers on a 10-day contract, according to a report by Yahoo Sports.
Williams, who went unsigned after finishing last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, played for Tianjin of the Chinese Basketball Association this season.
He averaged 20.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in his recently concluded CBA campaign.
The former Arizona star was drafted second overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2011.
He was traded to the Sacramento Kings early in the 2013-14 season on the heels of his career-best sophomore NBA season in which he averaged 12 points and 5.9 rebounds.
He signed with the New York Knicks as a free agent in 2015, then with the Miami Heat in 2016. He lasted just 25 games with the Heat before joining the Cavaliers and staying throughout their NBA Finals run.
Williams, who has career averages of 8.9 points and 4 rebounds, figures to give the Lakers depth while forward Brandon Ingram recovers from a groin injury.
