A Queensland woman is lucky to be alive after her car plummeted 15 metres off a cliff at a popular beach on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency services were called to Point Arkwright on David Lowe Way at Yaroomba near Coolum just after 12.30pm on Sunday to find the car at the bottom of the cliff.

It’s understood the sedan crashed through a fence and plunged down the cliff.

The crash occurred near the Jubilee Esplanade picnic and lookout area.

‘Emergency services had the delicate task to start with, rescuing the occupant who has been reported to have escaped with non life threatening injuries.’

The motorist aged in her 50s suffered minor head injuries and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition

Three crews from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were at the scene for almost an an hour as they assisted Queensland Ambulance with rescuing the female sole occupant of the car and transporting her to the top of the cliff.

An ambulance spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia that the woman aged in her 50s suffered minor head injuries and was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The car has been inspected to see if a mechanical fault caused the incident and police are investigating the cause of the crash.
