James Milner has shared spine-tingling footage of the greeting Liverpool fans afforded the team bus as it arrived at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Home fans lined the streets to welcome the Reds ahead of their Champions League quarter-final win over Manchester City.

The reception the Liverpool players received was a million miles away from the hostile greeting that met the away side as their coach rolled through the streets around Anfield.

Objects were thrown at the City players and a window smashed, but the Liverpool team were greeted with cheers.

In the video, shared on Milner’s Twitter the throngs of Liverpool fans can be seen climbing above shops and up lamp posts to get a glimpse of their heroes.

As Milner films the scenes outside he also cuts to his team-mates inside the bus, with Sadio Mane, Danny Ings and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also filming the scenes.

They looked in relaxed mood ahead of the tie, and it showed on the pitch as a first-half onslaught swept City aside.

Mohamed Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane were on the scoresheet in the opening 31 minutes as the Reds took control of the tie.

The two sides meet in the return leg at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
