Thanks to the recent reboot of the movie IT, many adults’ childhood fears of the creepy clown Pennywise have been revived with a vengeance.
It’s likely for this reason that Twitter user @BornToBriWild was left terrified when she saw her toddler gazing down into a sink drain recently and uttering the words: ‘Hi Georgie.’
Georgie is the name of the little boy in both the 1990 TV special and 2017 blockbuster film who is eaten by Pennywise in the horrifying opening sequence after the clown lures him into a storm drain.
Bit of a scare: A Twitter user was momentarily terrified by her toddler when the three-year-old appeared to greet a character from IT in their sink drain
Frightening face: Bri was startled because Georgie is the name of the little boy devoured by Pennywise the clown, who lures him into a storm drain
Thoughts a’runnin: The mom claims that the moment ‘made me c**p my pants’
Georgie’s image is later used by the monster to lure, taunt and scare his older brother Bill throughout the two screen versions.
Drains are also a favorite haunt of the evil child-eating demon in both films, including one in a bathroom sink and a school change room shower.
So when Bri spotted her daughter seemingly greeting ‘Georgie’ as she peered down the drain, the mom admits the moment ‘made me c**p my pants.’
Relief: In reality, the little girl was actually greeting her toy shaped like Peppa Pig’s brother George, which she had shoved into the drain
Going big: The tweet went massively viral, and has so far been shared more than 180,000 times on the site
The fact that the three-year-old had never seen the film made the perfect storm of references all the more terrifying.
‘Against my better judgement I look down the drain AND…’ she wrote, adding space for effect, ‘..it’s Peppa Pig’s little brother, George.’
Along with her tweet she included a picture of what she saw: a pink and blue pig figuring that had clearly been forcibly shoved into the drain.
She shared her story and the image on Twitter where it swiftly went viral with more than 600,000 likes and 180,000 shares to date.
Little rascals: Bri shared these photo of her kids after the tweet went viral, calling her daughter ‘the offender’
In agreement: A number of users replied seconding Bri’s terrified reaction
Commendations: Some users called Bri ‘brave’ for going and looking in the drain
‘That is precious and terrifying,’ wrote one user, who Bri responded to by writing: ‘That’s a perfect summary for having children.’
Another user wrote: ‘Jesus you’re brave for having a look I’d have burnt the house down right then and there.’
The mom responded: ‘Dude if there was nothing or anything other than that stupid pig, I would have forsaken the toddler and the house and wished her the best of luck.’
Bri, who shared a couple of sweet photos of ‘the offender and her little brother’ along the way, revealed later that she managed to rescue George from the drain with a skewer.
