Same-sex couple claim they were kicked out of Oaks Flat skating rink for kissing

A young same-sex couple claim they were kicked out of a roller skating rink after an innocent peck on the lips offended the family venue.

Maddie Dellosa and Amy Hudson were on a date at the Oak Flats Roller Skating Rink, south of Sydney, on Friday when they claim they were asked to leave by a manager.

The couple, both 20, said their physical contact was limited before the manager reportedly approached them to leave after parents took issue with their flirtation.

‘The parents that complained were only making complaints over a handful of innocent momentary pecks over the course of the night, as adult couples do on date nights,’ Ms Dellosa told Daily Mail Australia.

‘He said, “I don’t care if boys kiss boys or whatever, it’s just not tolerated here, it’s a family venue”,’ Ms Hudson claimed.

At that point Ms Hudson grabbed her partner’s face and kissed her in defiance.

She claims the pair were then asked to leave the venue immediately.

The couple claimed they were enraged by the reaction from the rink and threw their hired skates into the bin before swearing at the manager.

‘It’s a family venue – I see that, and I see that it’s not appropriate for teenagers or anyone of any gender to be all over each other. If I was doing that, I would agree it was fair of him to ask me to leave, but this was not what this was,’ Ms Dellosa said.

They took their anger to social media, leaving a one-star rating on the rink’s Facebook page detailing their experience.

Oaks Flat Roller Skating Rink announced on Monday they had permanently closed the rink ‘due to the concerns of the safety’ of their staff.

According to the Illawarra Mercury, it’s understood vile death threats including ‘you’ll get yours, it’s coming’ were left on the rink’s answering machine.

The business has since bolted a sign at the entrance of their doors with ‘closed due to safety concerns’.

Ms Dellosa said the threats directed at the rink was not what she had intended, stressing she was furious with whoever was behind them.
