A seven-year-old boy was struck and killed by a New York City bus on Saturday while riding his scooter in the Bronx.
Police say that Shevon Bethea was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital with severe head trauma after being hit by a MTA bus in the Bronx around 3.30pm.
Bethea, originally from Brooklyn, was later pronounced dead by hospital officials, according to The New York Post.

Investigators said the incident occurred as the bus was heading south on Webster Avenue near East 184th Street.
‘This is a tragic situation and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of this young boy. We are working closely with police,’ Shams Tarek, a spokesman for the MTA, said in a statement.
The 38-year-old bus driver, whose identity has not been released, remained at the scene of the incident.
An eyewitness told CBS affiliate Channel 2 New York that the city may have been at fault in the incident.
‘The bus hit the kid, the bus hit the kid hard, too, because the kid flew,’ Reena Roy told the broadcaster
‘I know one thing, that light was yellow, the light turn red – to me, the kid had the right of way.’
Authorities are still investigating the incident and no arrests have been made.
