A female carjacking victim has spoken about the terrifying moment she turned around to see a man swinging a pickaxe at her head.
The women, who wishes to remain nameless, said she had stopped at a service station in Braeside, Melbourne, when a man came rushing at her from the bushes as she walked back to her car.
‘Then I heard yelling from behind me, I looked up and by the time I looked up the man was at me with an axe in my face,’ she told 7 News.

The woman said the man started to swing the butt end of the axe at her head, filling her with terror and adrenaline as she tried her best to fight the carjacker off.
As blood poured from her wounds and bruises began to well up, she said she lost hold of her keys and the man quickly scooped them up off the ground.
She said it was at that moment when she knew it was either ‘her or the car’.

Police released up a composite image of the alleged attacker
The woman was driving a white Mercedes Benz, which contained a number of sensitive documents and personal information.
Detective Senior Constable Gordon McSephney told 7 News the incident had all the hallmarks of a calculated attack.
‘It’s obviously very calculated and very violent, and the kind of offending we’re very serious about targeting and stopping,’ he said.

The attack has left the women in fear and she said she doesn’t even feel safe in her own home.
‘I’m a sitting duck waiting for this to happen again,’ she said.
Police released up a composite image of the alleged attacker.
