Brisbane family searching for answers after baby boy dies in sleep

A heartbroken family have been left searching for answers after their baby boy tragically died in his sleep.

Lucas Elliot was just nine months old when he failed to wake up from a nap at his daycare in Toowoomba, south west of Brisbane, last Thursday. 

Daycare staff made desperate attempts to resuscitate him as emergency services rushed to the scene. 

Lucas’ parents and grandparents were already waiting for their son to arrive at Toowoomba Hospital where he was then airlifted to Lady Cilento. 

His mother Kathy said the team there ‘were amazing’ but there was nothing more that they could do for their ‘brave little boy’. 

He died surrounded by all of his loved ones which she explains they are all so thankful for.

‘We still do not understand why he didn’t wake from his sleep on Thursday morning but we are so thankful for the team who resuscitated him so that we could have our time to say goodbye,’ his mother Kathy said.

The family now want to give back to the ‘amazing organisations’ who made it possible for Lucas’ loved ones to spend some precious time with their special baby before he passed away. 

‘We wish to support Queensland Ambulance Service, Toowoomba Base Hospital, Life Flight, Lady Cilento ICU & Ronald McDonald House.’ 

They are asking for contributions to help thank the team that  made it possible for us to spend some precious time with our special baby boy
