Most doting boyfriends propose to their loved ones in intimate, romantic settings.
But one thrill-seeking beau has taken things to a whole new level by proposing to his girlfriend in a tank surrounded by two mammoth crocodiles.
Adventure-seeker and animal lover, Michael Beltrami, 33, of Melbourne, proposed to his girlfriend of five years, Katie Johnston, 28, in April during a Cage of Death Dive at Darwin’s Crocosaurus Cove.
But the one-of-a-kind proposal almost went horribly wrong.

The Melbourne-based couple chose to have a more unique proposal ceremony – one among the crocodiles
While everything went well, the proposal was almost called off when Mr Beltrami nearly lost the engagement ring.
Speaking to FEMAIL, the newly-engaged thrill seeker said he had hidden the ring he was planning to give to Ms Johnston in his pocket, tied to a piece of string.
‘I had a slip knot around it which must have come loose because I remember looking up and seeing the piece of string just floating in the water,’ he said.
Not your average wedding proposal: The Melbourne-based couple, who are also animal lovers, couldn’t have been more thrilled to get engaged with their favourite reptiles looking on
All’s well that ends well: The ring was found just in the nick of time and the proposal went ahead
‘Naturally I panicked, but the ring was still there so slipped it on my little finger until the moment I asked Katie to marry me.’
Luckily, he said the ring stayed put until he popped the question.
Apart from that one minor mishap, Mr Beltrami there were no problems with the dive despite being metres deep in water with two giant crocs swimming nearby.

When asked how his fiancee felt about the unique proposal, Mr Beltrami said she was thrilled he’d done something different – and a little shocked.
‘We travelled to a million different places, Uluru and Katherine Gorge, but a lot of people propose at those places.
‘I think she was half expecting me to propose at one of those places, but I really wanted to do something different,’ he said.
‘And I love crocs, I think they’re my favourite animal, and so does Katie.’
