Father of accused murderer hits backs at online trolls using #metoo as he claims he too is a victim

The father of the accused murderer of Eurydice Dixon has hit back at online trolls using the hashtag #MeToo – claiming he is also a victim.

Jaymes Todd has been charged with the rape and murder of the aspiring comedian 22, and his father Jason said he has offered his condolences to her family.

‘But I’ve also experienced loss… I’ll never get to see my son get married, have children, buy a house… damn, I’ll never be able to hug him again.’ Mr Todd posted on social media.

He shared posts from Facebook users who were attacking him online.

‘Hope you’re proud to have raised a rapist and a murderer… LOL your son is going to get his in prison… he will scream so hard,’ one of the comments read.

Mr Todd said the comments were distressing.

‘By the time he gets out, I’ll be dead. And you, Mr Sensitive, decide it’s a good idea to show me how much you care by sending me this,’ he said.

He ended his post using the hashtag #MeToo – more commonly used by victims of sexual assault.  

Mr Todd’s comments came just hours before thousands of people gathered at Princes Park in Melbourne to remember Ms Dixon.

A friend posted a message of support for Mr Todd, telling him to ‘ignore’ the comments of others.

‘Sending you as much love as possible, Jason. You know how many of us are here for you,’ a friend said.

Ms Dixon was on her way home from a gig on June 12 when she was allegedly raped and murdered at the park in Carlton North in inner Melbourne.

Her body was found in the early hours of Wednesday morning, less than a kilometre away from her home.

The tragedy brought the community together at Monday night’s emotional vigil, which was attended by up to 10,000 people.
