A 21-year-old New Jersey woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison for strangling her newborn child and hiding its body in a bathroom vanity.

Jade Fanz was 19 years old when she gave birth in her family’s home in February 2016.

She then applied pressure to her baby girl’s throat, ending her short life instantly. The baby was just minutes old.

Fanz was initially charged with murder, unlawfully disturbing, moving, or concealing human remains, and abuse or neglect of a child.

She pleaded guilty to a single second-degree charge of reckless manslaughter earlier this year, according to NJ.com.

Fanz’s secret was discovered when she began hemorrhaging and went to the hospital shortly after giving birth.

Fanz has remained in jail since her arrest.

She must serve 85 percent of her sentence before she is eligible for parole, as per the terms of her plea deal.
