A topless waitress who previously boasted of her involvement in a drug syndicate and her gym junkie boyfriend are poised to escape prison time.
Nateesha Barlin and her muscle clad boyfriend, Dylan Shaw faced Gosford District Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to masterminding a steroid empire which saw the distribution of steroids and human growth hormones.
The judge ordered an assessment to see if both Shaw and Barlin could instead serve an intensive corrections order (ICO) for two years for their actions, Central Coast Gosford Express Advocate reported.

An ICO restricts the civil liberties of the subject by providing community work, unannounced visits and random drug testing.
The couple ran a ‘criminal enterprise’ from their rented granny flat on the New South Wales Central Coast – before it all came crashing down after a two-year covert sting operation.
Barlin boasted that she pretty much supplied the whole Central Coast at one stage in the operation.

Judge Michael Bozic told the court he found ‘no sentence other than a custodial sentence appropriate.’
His decision to potentially allow an ICO instead of prison time, was due to the remorse and strong prospects of rehabilitation he saw.
He also took into consideration a letter Barlin wrote the court, along with a psychological report tendered in her defence.

Barlin claimed she suffered from mild body dysmorphia and had an obsession with her appearance after being bullied from a young age, due to being an ‘ugly duckling’

‘I will finally be cool enough for these people to be my friends,’ she wrote in the letter, in relation to supplying steroids.
‘All she cared about was being in the cool crowd,’ Judge Bozic said.
Barlin’s solicitor Michael Mantaj said her low self esteem was the primary factor in the particular offence
Barlin’s solicitor Michael Mantaj said her low self esteem was the primary factor in the particular offence.
He went on to add that this led to a desperation to fit in with the gym culture, which led to an introduction to steroids.
‘She was aware they were illegal, she was not aware of how serious the offences were (compared to other drugs such as heroin),’ he said.
The pair were raided by the Australian Border Force in November 2016.
They imported and distributed steroids, testosterone and human growth hormones, and were caught out when ABF officers intercepted 13,672 tablets, 11.2 litres of testosterone, 600ml of anabolic steroid, and 20 vials and 55 ampoules of human growth hormone.
