And now, American Idol producers are hoping some of those eyeballs travel over to their re-launch by adding Charlie Puth as one of the show’s judges, according to TMZ.
Lionel Richie is also in the running, it was added. Katy Perry was hired in June.

The decision is said to be up for discussion this week between show producers and ABC reps.
The website also claims that Luke Bryan could step in to replace either after ‘impressing producers’ in early discussions.
Keith Urban, who judged during the show’s final seasons, could ‘slide in as an alternate.’

Ryan Seacrest announced on a recent episode of Live With Kelly And Ryan that he will be the host.
Charlie shot to fame with his musical YouTube videos, and had his big break with See You Again, which was featured on the soundtrack for Furious 7.
The track was used as a tribute to Paul Walker, the beloved actor from the franchise who died in a car accident in 2013.

Richie is currently touring the United State with Mariah Carey on their All The Hits tour, which will play at the Hollywood Bowl on Monday.
The tour was postponed due to Lionel facing complications from a knee operation earlier this year.
Idol has not announced an official return date but is expected to start airing in 2018. Auditions via an audition bus will begin taking place in mid-August.
