Australian swimming couple Emily Seebohm and Mitch Larkin have officially gone their separate ways after dating for two years.

Ms Seebohm confirmed the split on Instagram on Friday. 

‘I would like to take this opportunity before more speculation and rumours are spread,’ the 26-year-old said.

‘Due to current events that have occurred, Mitch Larkin and I have decided to end our relationship and go our separate ways. As always I appreciate your support and ask for your understanding and privacy on this matter,’ she wrote.

Mr Larkin has yet to comment on the matter. 

The news came after the pair was seen on the runway for the Treasury Brisbane’s ICON fashion series last Thursday. 

Ms Seebohm and Mr Larkin share a house in Hendra. They bought the property last year. 

According to The Courier Mail, the pair have been dating since 2015 but have long known each other since they were in the same swimming circle in Brisbane.  

Swimming champion Mitch Larkin won five gold medals at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games this year. 

He was also named the International Swimming Federation Male Swimmer of the Year in 2015 and also competed in the Rio Olympics.

Emily Seebohm won eight gold medals at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games and also competed in the Beijing and Rio Olympics.

She was named the 2017 Australian Swimmer of the Year.
