Driver who punched a young mother in the face breaks his silence as he insists he’s the victim

The man who went viral for a road rage stunt where he king-hit a woman has spoken out for the first time, saying that he was the victim.

Clint Pollard was captured on camera punching 22-year-old Bianca Sams during a shocking road rage incident at Lake Munmorah on the Central Coast last July.

In an interview, the 42-year-old told Sunday Night that his encounter with the young woman was self-defence.

The confronting footage shows Pollard walking up to the young mother as she’s standing outside her car with her arms folded.

He then swings his right arm and hits her in the face.

Although he feels bad about ‘having to raise his hard to a girl’, Pollard said that he was genuinely concerned for his safety at the time.

‘The truth is that I was attacked that day, I was the victim,’ he said.

Prior to the shocking moment, Pollard was driving to the beach on a road that dropped from 80km/h to 60km/h.

After slowing down to the legal speed limit, Clint said that the car behind him, containing Sams, her girlfriend Taylor Bembridge and Bembridge’s baby, began to sound the horn and flash their lights.

Thinking they were in a rush, Pollard let the car speed past him.

Moments later, Bembridge stops the car at a set of lights, which gave Sams the opportunity to step out of the car with her arms crossed as Clint approaches.

He unleashes a sickening punch that jolts Sams’ head backwards and into the car door window.

‘I had no choice but to act in self-defence,’ he said.

Once he started to walk back to his car, Bembridge put the car in reverse and went to hit Pollard, who luckily stepped out of the way just in time.

‘She was trying to run me over, she was deadset trying to kill me,’ he told Sunday Night.

Pollard drives away thinking the ordeal is over, yet the ladies begin to chase him.

Sams is sitting with half her body out of the car once again, and throws a chisel at Pollard’s car, smashing the glass in his face.

Triumphant, the girls then drove off and boasted about the incident on social media.

‘I was throwing nails at his car, then threw a chisel at his car, haha eye for an eye,’ the comments on Facebook said.

Sams was charged for provoking the incident and was sentenced to 360 hours of community service.

Pollard was given a three-year good behaviour bond and was fined $900.
