Apple customers are often paying hundreds more for their products than shoppers who buy the same devices from rival stores, it has been revealed.
Daily Mail Australia conducted a price comparison of some of Apple’s most popular gadgets to see how the different costs stacked up between retailers.
The discrepancies were surprising, with competitive electronics retailers such as Dick Smith and The Good Guys undercutting the multinational tech company by significant amounts.

In some cases consumers are paying as much as $500 more when buying products directly from Apple itself.
While a 15-inch MacBook Pro with a 258GB hard-drive and 2.2GHz processor retails for $3499 on Apple’s shelves, Dick Smith offers the exact same device for a mere $2999.
For an iPhone X, Apple store customers will have to fork out $1579 while Dick Smith customers pay just $1499.
The Good Guys, meanwhile, is advertising a 13-inch MacBook Air for $1339 – $160 less than Apple’s asking price – as well as an iPhone 8 Plus for $1197 – compared to Apple’s $1229.

Local electronics retailers are undercutting the Apple store’s retail prices on its own products by significant amounts
Other products retailing for more through the Apple Store include MacBooks and iPhone 8’s.
A handful of other retailers, such as JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman, offer products like MacBooks, iPads and iPhones at similar prices to the Apple store catalogue.
Daily Mail Australia has approached Apple for comment.
